The physical demands consist of sitting, observing, standing and walking on patrol to secure building. Also includes prolonged standing, walking, carrying extra equipment and requires restraining/detaining suspects involving the use of handcuffs. May require the lifting of heavy objects weighing less than 50 pounds. Latent Print Examiners work in a specialized forensic science discipline conducting examinations of physical evidence submitted by Law Enforcement agencies involving impression evidence. The position requires advanced technical, independent research and analytical skills to evaluate evidence. Examiner provides technical and expert witness assistance to Law Enforcement partners in investigations and the Judicial System. Evidence processing includes the utilization of technology such as the Biometric Identification System to rapidly identify unidentified latent print impressions recovered at incidents.
Public Safety work involving police services in the investigation and enforcement of traffic laws and ordinances as related to automobile accidents and to assist in the protection of life and property on roadways. Work follows standard operating procedures; however, the employee has the latitude to determine what procedure or precedent to follow based on the work situation. Community Service Officers are confronted with various situations which require quick assessment and the use of good judgment to resolve issues that may arise. Under the direct supervision of the JSO Safety & Prevention Unit, the School Crossing Guard is responsible for the safe and orderly crossing of school-age children at their assigned location. Work is performed under direct supervision and in accordance with established rules and regulations procedures established by the Florida Department of Transportation. Advice and assistance are available in unusual situations via your Supervisor or the School Crossing Guard Administration Office. A School Crossing Guards work is reviewed through inspection twice a year and annual training is required.
